When a fish is hooked on the Salmon River a fisherman will yell “fish on” which alerts nearby fishermen that you have hooked a fish and its courteous to have every one lift their lines out of the water so that no one becomes tangled. After “fish on” has been announced the fisherman may yell “coming down” so that fisherman down river are aware that the fish is running down stream and to lift their lines.
