Fisherman say or yell “fish on” when a fish has been hooked on the line. This phrase is used as a warrior call or alert others that you are on to the fish. When the Salmon River is crowded it is customary for fishermen to yell “fish on” and for others that around to be aware and to lift their lines out of the water so that lines will not cross.
