Douglaston Salmon Run Daily Fishing Report

initial fishing report 6 October 16
10/6/2016

the estuary is chock full of salmon, they have been steadily moving up into the river all day to this point (best action early in the morning, as has been the trend this past week), one guide stated that a conservative estimate of the fish who passed his client this morning was “a 1000”, many of the guides were off the river early, and a River Patrol member reported from a well known hole at the upper end that there were “hundreds” of fish in that (relatively) little hole – from these various reports it appears that the entire DSR section of the river contained moving fish today

Another afternoon with a steady trickle of fish other than a few hotspot’s here and there, with most anglers reporting hooking up to at least 2-3 and on average about 5-6.

The Wall hole to the little black there was consistent hook ups, but we have not gotten much other information from the rest of the river. We are sold out of evening passes! Please reserve passes online! They are selling fast. We are currently sold out of passes until Oct 11. But, if you want to try and get a full day pass, get here at 5am tomorrow and get in line! Any access passes will be sold at 6:15/6:30am. Evening passes start selling at 12pm. It’s first come first serve! We do NOT sell before the start times. But, this it is good to note on average we have had 10-15 am passes extra available, and 8-12 evening passes. It’s very limited, and the demand is high! Get here while you can!

The afternoon was a little slow like previous afternoons. A steady trickle of fish and hook-ups here and there, with most anglers reporting at least 2-3 fish landed and a few more hooked.
