initial fishing report 4 September 2017
9/4/2017CFS dropped to 335 last night / 419 at Pineville – water temperature up to 65 F – partly cloudy, slight breezes, warmer today – sold out at 65 clients – clients started coming up beginning at 8:40 AM and trickled out until near noon (both leaving for the day and grabbing an early lunch break) – with exceptions, which I will note later in this report, the upper section was relatively quiet, perhaps because fewer clients fished there – of those that did fish there, reports were one and two hook ups – the middle section (as has been the case all week) was the place to be at daybreak (again, typical of the week), with almost all clients fishing this section reporting very good action, and most seeing fish moving through, but not holding in this section – the lower section had little activity beyond the fish that happened to be there at daybreak and only a few moving through – one client floating in the estuary reported fish there, but milling about, with few moving up – another client in the lower section reported a few salmon moving up, but many more moving downriver than up (perhaps Cohos).
