“494 CFS at Pineville – recent warming trend (which will continue) has caused a lot of the shelf ice to break up and move downriver
at the DSR the river is open for fishing from the upper property line down to the Wall Hole (near the area of the Wall hole there is some low-lying shelf ice)
from the Wall Hole down to the Flats the river is open, but you will be standing well above the river on some high shelf ice
AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION FISHING ON OR NEAR SHELF ICE AND KEEP AN EYE UPRIVER TO LOOK OUT FOR ICE FLOES COMING DOWN!
as of today, below the Flats is still jammed with ice sheets
we had fishermen out yesterday as well as today – primarily fishing the areas from the Little Black Hole, through the Glide, and down to the Flats – they all reported hooking up with two or three Steelhead and landing almost all of them – egg sacks in pink and (to a lesser degree) blue have been the baits that worked
you may want to consider fishing the Steelhead fall-back / Spring run during late March through early May, and also take advantage of the trophy pike, and tasty perch and bullhead, fishing during this period – call us for lodging availability!”
