The weather was not great today – it was pouring down, but fishing continues to be consistent. If you want some easy fishing right now is the time to fish. If you are a novice angler and have the right equipment, you should be able to hook up. Fish are in all of the significant holes right now, and they are most accessible to fish up by Altmar. Recommend that you fish from Pineville up to the Fly Zones. If you are a bit more experienced and agile, you can try fishing for Steelhead and fresher Kings from Ball Park down to Lower Staircase. Seeing lots of activity for Steelhead from Long Bridge to the Lower Staircase. If fishing the Lower Staircase early morning or late afternoon is an excellent time to get some Steelhead.
Lake Ontario
Sources who kayaked the Estuary are reporting that there are not as many fish in the Estuary.
Douglaston Salmon Run
Anglers who fished the DSR today confirmed the reports from DSR. Movememnt from the Estuary and down low was spotty but there is lots of fish who are hanging out in the DSR. If you are a novice angler we recommend you fish the middle of the DSR.
Black Hole, Town and 81
Fishing continues to be consistent but today was a really wet day so there was less pressure. Lots of Steelhead have been hooked in the lower Staircase.
Compactor to Altmar and Fly Zones.
The best fishing is from Pineville to Altmar. All the major places are producing fish. Most of them are darker because they have been in the river longer but they are still fun.
Oak Orchard
The Oak is fishing well with medium angler pressure. The dam has lots of fish currently.
Burt Dam
Burt Dam has more fish moving up by the bridge and dam but reports show that the fish were not biting today at the dam due to the weather. Fishing pressure was minimal.
