I typically fish mid-week and run to the river on the weekend to get reports. Unfortunately, due to our kids going back to school I was not able to fish Tues, Wed or Thurs. Based on my sources on the river and reports I did not miss much. I had some out town acquaintances that fished those days however after the first day they decided to go to the lake instead of the river. The heat and humidity along with the slow bite and the continued conditions just made them go with a charter.
Douglaston Salmon Run reported it was slow for all the days and Fat Nancy’s Salmon River Fishing Report also stated it was slow. One thing that I heard from my acquaintances that were on the lake they saw lots of fish. This is such a contrast to the reports we were getting three years ago. The good news is that it looks like the weather is going to become favorable in the next few days.
I cannot predict when fish are going to start moving again, but I believe that based on what is happening at the lake that when they start running, it’s going to be hot and heavy.
