Mini Run

September 18, 2018 by Salmon River Newbie Leave a Comment

Today was very slow on the river. I spoke to anglers on the river who fished all day and in multiple places and they all said it was very slow.

Douglaston Salmon River reported “A difficult day on the run” and Whitakers reported, “overall most anglers reported having a slow day with not much action”.

As I reflect on last week’s activity I think that we are looking at a scenario where it is more like a Mini Run. A few weeks ago we had a Nano Run where things were great for just two days. This Mini Run lasted into the weekend but when Monday came it just shut down completely. We may have to wait a few more days for cooler weather or something else to trigger another significant movement. Hopefully, we don’t continue to have these spurts of action but more of a prolonged movement of fish.

However, there is some good news for those that like to fish the Oak Orchard. I received reports today that there are about 30 kings by the Dam.

Additionally, Oz Angling is reporting that there are fish at the dam.
