Salmon River Fishing Report October 5 2019

The Estuary is not following a predictable pattern of filling up and then run. It seems like it will be filled up and then will trickle or will push fish at night. Most days the current situation is that fish will move at daybreak until 10 AM and then shuts down. Lots of anglers were frustrated.

Most of the sources I spoke with yesterday and this morning relayed that it was S L O W. Most of the angler were able to hook up but were surprised that it was uncharacteristic of fishing in October after rain and a cold spell.

Yesterday in town there was less pressure than expected. This did not help that there was less movement. Some anglers were not able to get at any fish while others who had a better technique or were in the right place were able to hook up.

Yesterday there was more pressure on the bigger holes but the fishing was slow. Lots of anglers packed up early. This morning there was some action but died down and more pressure. Seems that anglers are struggling if they are staying by the bigger holes. To get any today you will need to walk.

Fewer anglers were fishing the days after the tragedy. Because there were fewer anglers it was hard to judge how things were going. Some said it was doing well and others did not know.

Looks like today there is more action as Oz angling is doing a fishing content.

There are fish at the Oak by the dam. Some enjoy fishing the dam if you float fish or bottom bouncing. Fishing pressure was minimal last week but it is starting to increase. Water is very low so movement is minimal.

Fish are finally at the dam but there are more anglers than fish.
