Hi Everyone, Water is running@185 cfs. Still getting reports of fish being caught out of the lake. Some wind this weekend made for tough fishing. Looking for some rain this week and a little bit of a cool down. Mite put fish in closer to the river. Most are reporting 250 to 300 feet. River reports from the lower half spotting a few fish out of the estuary. Route 3 bridge is a good place to see early fish. Douglaston Salmon run is reporting a few early fish. Mostly locals fishing and looking for the first catch of the year. Haven’t heard or seen any fish hooked as of yet. We like to call these early fish freight trains these kings like to blow threw the deeper pools and splash and thrash in the fast water. Purple and dark red are great aggravating colors tied into a Freight train, Purple Peril, Thor, and Red Weenie. Plenty of hook clearance and dark shadow presentation. These flies are traditional Pacific and Atlantic Salmon flies. If your not to far away and would like to come out and walk the river and maybe spot a fish or two, now is a good time. Most are foaming at the mouth and waiting for the big numbers.
