Good afternoon! It’s Thursday, September 15th. Today’s flow on the Salmon River is 335 cfs and at Pineville it is 425 cfs. The lower fly zone in Altmar has opened up!
The cooler weather has brought some more fish into the river. Kings and cohos have been filling up in the estuary since Monday and making their way upstream. The salmon haven’t been hanging around in one area too long, they’re on the move. I think it’s safe to say they’re spread throughout the river, with the main population concentrated in the lower end. Fish have been reported in the 2A to Pineville area. Wednesday was a good day for anglers in the lower river. I saw a decent amount of fish jumping around in the estuary last night. Fishing has been steady again this morning. Guys have had a lot of hookups. Some fish have been putting up a good fight and others have been a little more lethargic since they’ve been hanging around a bit longer. An angler that was fishing in the DSR reported around 100 or so fish moving through, with most fisherman having success.
