“We finally caught a break with the weather and the arrival of warm conditions has got anglers out of the house and back on the water. Yesterday we had mostly sunny conditions and the temperature reached into the upper 30’s. The upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville continues to get the most fishing pressure on a daily basis. The warm weather will help with the shelf ice in the lower end of the river and has already opened up the Town Pool, Longbridge and Staricase. If I get the chance I will go down and check the DSR today. Now that we have more fishable water in the mid to lower end of the river, it should help take some of the pressure off the Altmar area and give anglers more room to spread out. Yesterday we got mixed reports from anglers staying in the motel, but the best action seemed to have come from the Lower Fly Zone with black stoneflies, hare’s ear, san juan worms and pheasant tails producing the best results. The deep holes continue to produce the most action on a daily basis. Anglers are fishing the Lower Fly Zone, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Ellis Cove, Bovines, Trestle Pool, Ace in the Hole, Sportsman Pool, Papermill, Town Pool, Longbridge and Staircase.”
