“On Sunday we had cloudy conditions with low 20’s and snow shower’s in the morning. Mixed reports from anglers. Customer’s fishing the upper sections the river had better action. With the recent break in the weather the fishing pressure has picked up and the Altmar area continues to get heavy fishing pressure on a daily basis. In the upper end of the river the fish have been holding in the deep holes in the Lower Fly Zone, Schoolhouse, Wire Hole, Ellis Cove, Trestle Pool, Pineville, Ace in the Hole and Sportsman Pool. In the lower end of the river the fish are also holding in the deep holes such as Papermill, Town Pool, Longbridge/Staircase, Black Hole and upper section of the DSR. Anglers who are fly fishing have done well with small black stoneflies, hare’s ear, pheasant tails, wiggle stones and san juan worms. Anglers who are float fishing or bottom bouncing have done well with blue or pink egg sacs, pink worms, trout beads and steelhead jigs.

SUGGESTED PATTERNS:

Steelhead Stone in purple, red, orange. size 8.

Sparkle stone in black, size 10.

Steelhead Hammer in black, chart, blue, red, size 12.

Glo-bugs in oregon cheese, blue, pink and chart. size 10

Rubber leg stone in black or brown, size 10.

Hot Bead Woolly Buggers in black, olive, size 6-10

Double Beadhead black stone, size 10

Kaufman stone. size 6

Beadhead black stone. size 6-10.

Wiggle stone in blue, chart, pink and peacock. size 10

Steak-N-Eggs in orange, pink, chart. size 10.

San Juan Worm, size 10

Sucker spawn in pink, blue, chart, white and peachy king. size 8”
