On Thursday we had mostly sunny conditions and the temperature reached into the mid 50’s. We had a few passing showers late in the day which didn’t amount to much, but we are getting some runoff in the mid to lower end of the river. At this point we’ve lost a lot of snow and so far we’ve been lucky and had a slow gradual melt. Yesterday we had mixed reports from anglers, but the most action seemed to be in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville. Anglers we have staying in the motel reported getting into fish in the Upper and Lower Fly Zone with black stoneflies and single egg patterns producing steady results. The anglers we have staying in the motel who fished the lower end of the river reported having a slow day. Anglers who were bottom bouncing or float fishing reported getting into a few fish in the upper end of the river on blue egg sacs and pink worms.
