Thursday was hot and sunny day with the temperature reaching into the upper 70’s. The good news is that cooler weather conditions are expected as we head into the upcoming weekend. Over the last couple of days the majority of anglers have been fishing the lower end of the river and we’ve only gotten a few reports from the upper end. Anglers we have staying in the motel who fished the fly zones reported that the fishing was slow for them, but a couple other groups did report landing a few salmon in the upper end of the river between Altmar and Pineville. As fish move through the lower end of the river anglers continue to have action in the Ball Park, Town Pool, Longbridge/Staircase, Black Hole and DSR. Yesterday anglers we have staying in the motel who fished the DSR reported having another good day with steady fish movement. Overall anglers staying in the motel and stopping into the shop have been pleased with the fishing this week, the fishing has been much better then last year at this time. During the week the river was not very crowded and we had a good angler to fish ratio, but that will change as the fishing pressure picks up for the weekend.
